For the most part the economy is divided into for-profit and not-for profit organizations, with the idea that self-interest is served in business and wider social concerns through civil society. But how real is this idea, in theory and in practice? Not-for-profits are becoming little more than government agencies, when what is needed is a wider social understanding of business.
